Thanks for sharing, a must read for all parents (and anyone else for that matter).  Our 3-year old is in his second month of swim lessons right now, I HIGHLY recommend it for any parent.  We've had several kids drown locally in the last few weeks, such a tragedy.

Teach them how to swim, make them wear PFD's.  I can't tell you how many times I had to respond to real and near drownings.  They all suck
