Bernal, an unemployed land surveyor, said he won't eat the record-breaking fish, instead planning to mount a reproduction in his home, next to a 79.12-pound catfish he caught in 1995.

Hey genius, that is the beauty of reproduction, they make a replica and don't even need the actual specimen.  Go ahead, you can eat it.

Not if you keep killing the big breaders.

Sorry Pete, not to rain on your parade, it's a good post, just woke up on the wrong side of the couch this morning. :smt003

would the meat on a fish that size be all gristle-y & tough?

I had some grouper once from a 200+lb fish and it wasn't the greatest.

That catfish looks like it could noodle you!
