Hola pescadores!
Name's Mike, from San Diego Pacific Beach to be exact.  Making a drastic change of direction for my summer vacation and heading north instead of south(might just have to cross the equator for some warm summer water this winter!).  Good friend of mine works for the forest service and lives in Jenner so I am going to visit him, do some exploring on the weekends, but will be looking to fish both ocean and fresh during the week.
Used to live and surf in SF, OB was my spot:D, but never really got out fishing while living up there.  I am looking for any info on fishing and someone to show me the area.
If you are not but have some good info a private message is better:D
Gracias!
Miguelitro

Hey Mike,

i lived and surfed in SF as well for about 15 years.  If you come as far north as Mendocino area, look me up.

OB rules!

Mike, I live in petaluma. The Albion tournament is this weekend. Its up the coast aways from Jenner maybe 2 hours but there will be about a hundred people fishing there. I will be back on Sunday night the 2nd of August. You can fish at Ft Ross, Stillwater, Salt Point. Those would be the 3 closest launches for you to kayak fish for some decent fishing. Abalone season will re-open on the 1st of August and there are places to dive just north of Jenner. You can call me when I get back or PM me on this site. 7077659902. Craig

If the ocean is blown out you could try fishing for bass at Lake Sonoma in the early am or late pm.
Kinda too hot but would get you out OTW if the ocean's not cooperating. Go north on hwy 101 & take the Dry Creek Rd exit, make a left & go under the freeway and head west to the lake. It's 3 bucks to launch.

Thanks for the info and invites!
Not gonna make it to Albion, though that would have been optimal!
Looks like my buddy Alex has an adventure planned for this weekend that I hope will include getting a line wet, but next week is dedicated to getting OTW in the Russian River, and the ocean conditions permitting.

Any advice for fishing the Russian River?
I know I can't fish west of the first bridge from Jenner(damn MLPA:()...What species should I be targeting and what are the regulstions in a nutshell for those species?
There are a lot more restrictions up north than here, and a lot more than Baja where I usually vacation:D!
Abalone-  might have to throw in my dad's old iron!  I need a gauge(8"?) and a card or stamp in correct?

Again, thanks and thanks in advance!
Mike

If the ocean's flat, try getting out near Goat Rock and mooch for Salmon. They are supposed to be in close there right now. It's near Jenner.

There's a new MPA directly off the russian river mouth, that was created to stop people from taking RR bound salmon, so be careful exactly where you're salmon fishing in the area if you do launch at Goat Rock. jim
