I'm thinking of hitting it Sat and Sun, mostly for the steelies and/or anything else. I look forward to camping/chillin' and a walk or two as well. I'm also bringing my slingshot as I'm a kid at heart and love to kill beer cans!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

I love fishing this lake but haven't tried it for the landlocked Steelies since they filled it. Two weeks ago I was bass fishing and a Steelie chased my lure right at the boat, so it wasn't very deep and maybe 18 to 20 inches long! I'll be hitting the lake with my wife until about noon Saturday.

Ill be there at Yorty Creek launching my Pro Angler with my son sometime between 3 & 4am.  Gonna start off fishing for bass until after the sun comes up.  I've got zero experience with steelhead and don't have a down rigger but I'm going to try some East coast trolling techniques and see if I can get lucky enough to catch a trout!  I'm thinking of slow trolling a 1/4oz needlefish 2ft behind a 2oz trolling weight.  Ill just drop them down on a spinning rod loaded with 20lb braid and using 8lb flour as the leader material.  It'll be pretty crude but we'll see what happens!  If we don't have any luck we'll just swap back to bass fishing.

Be on the lookout for a Pro Angler with a big guy in the drivers seat and a ten year old sitting on a cooler on the back!

You guys have any luck on the Steelies?

Ring King, did you go to Lake Sonoma? The bass where biting in the morning and the minute the wind kicked up the bite die. I was off the lake by noon both days. I was missing to many and/or they threw my hook. Man that lake it dropping and trees popping up everywhere! Found a couple of umbrella rigs thou and a nice plug!!!

I didn't end up going.  I spent the day with my kids playing at the park here by the house and down at the pond on base.  Caught a few small fish, but really wished I was on the Lake!!  I'll get out there next weekend for sure!  It'll give me a little more time to figure out how I'm going to try for those steelhead!  I'm all about bass fishing, but I'd like to see a couple of those chromers on my grill!!

Ring King, just so you know they are having a bass tournament at Lake Sonoma next Saturday I was told by a guy doing the scouting. I believe the club he said was "BANK" (should have asked what that stands for), so they'll be more boats then normal. I think I'll shoot for next Sunday since Saturday I have to help my oldest boy move his family.

I will be up there next Sat 28th and probably the 29th also if any of you all plan to be up thee. I will create a new thread next week before I head up.

I'll be up there on the 24th and perhaps on the 26th ..

I'll let ya know where the bass and steelies are ..

If you have trouble making a downrigger .. early morning .. just be about 6 to 10
feet down --- they are gorging on shad up near the surface until the sun gets up
high and the shadows all disappear.

The downrigger I use on my kayak is a scotty lake troller. About 75 bucks ... it
mounts in a scotty pole holder .. works great .. 1 ft per turn ..

I'll be on my crestliner on Tuesday - with a beginner - so have to be in the crate.
I'll probably have 4 in the box. That's all you're allowed - 2 per person.
Oh, there are rainbows at Lake Sonoma - but - they are very rare - few and far
between .. they get eaten really fast.  A couple 13 pound LMB I got out of there
were probably feeding on nothing but young trout and steelies.  I know there's
bigger, but, I have yet to stick one of them.

If you see me out there - come ask - I'll tell ya where and what they are hitting.

Ring - needlefish about 2 feet behind is a good bet - try a watermellon - they are
killing mine in the early morning ... troll at about .9 to 1.2 mph .. watch out for the
bass though -- they like it too.
