Crack in my XF

You have to definetley get to the root of the problem before any repairs can even be considered. Contact the manufacture and discuss your problem with a tech at the factory. They will also tell you the CORRECT way and WHAT to use.  Poor advice is worth just what it costs you. NOTHING!

If a plastic weld holds at a spot that flexes alot I'd be impressed - please show some pics of such a repair.

Here's a couple repairs to one of the kayaks

Picture #1 is a scupper crack, on the thin part around the scupper hole.

Picture #2 is a Cobra large center deck hatch...it flexes like no other and has held for 3 + years

Picture #3 was a repair on the bottom of the kayak, It was drug on the back end before I purchased it. The back corner was thin an flexed before building up the bottom back to factory spec's.

I'll also try and get some pic's of the kayak I repaired that flew out of the back of the truck. That on had extensive damage both to the front end and back.

I appreciate all the feedback that I've received on my issue. I've contacted Malibu Kayak customer service manager who has not seen my particular issue however, is going to send me foam blocks for under the seat and yellow plastic for the plastic welding. I'll keep ya'll posted on the results.

  My recommendation is, if you choose to not have it welded, you need to stop the progression of the crack. Use a small diameter drill bit and drill a hole at each end of the crack.  Doing this will prevent the crack from getting any longer.  Of coarse, fill the holes with whatever sealant you perfer.

Thanks. I attempted to drill it earlier this week to prevent the same thing however, it still ran. Malibu said that I should have used at least a 1/4" drill bit. That I'm doing tonight; probably shoring it up with foam till I receive the replacement plastic and foam from Malibu.
