Hokkaido Ambush

Now that Mooch's NCKA hookup at Hokkaido was behind him and his appetite for "all you can eat" was temporarily satisfied, last night was the perfect time to surprise him with a going-away feast at where else, but Hokkaido. It was SUPPOSED to be a surprise, but somebody with double Hullavators on his truck blew the cover.

It would have been the perfect setting for a party, if it weren't for an accident on Hwy 92 in Foster City that snarled traffic on Hwy 92 and Hwy 101 for miles. It was one of those days where even the seldom used backroads to get past businer streets with more redlights were packed.

Anyway, most of us (Jedmo, wife Kim & daughter Danielle; Bennettdanville; agarcia; Pacifico; Liz; Vjo-Hobie Dave & wife Pam; Parrothead, Potato_River & wife Susan; Bink; and even Mako1 & his friend Barney showed up ON TIME. After about an hour of waiting and with Mooch, Freddie, and Melissa still a no-show, we all decided to get seated and start chowing down. Mooch showed up shortly after; Freddie and Melissa finally showed up sometime around 8 pm (I think).

I think somebody other than Mooch got a free meal because the waiter wasn't doing a very good job of determining who was going to pay for who and tried to charge me for two. Unfortunately (for him), I only paid for myself.

Thanks to Melissa for getting everyone together! And thanks to all that showed up! Traffic was horrible and I was 45 minutes late Anyway, as soon as I got to the parking lot, I saw Hojo's Toyota and thought that maybe he was just there by chance. So, I walk in looking for my planned dinner date with Fred and Melissa and they were no where to be found. I figured they ended up going home There goes my free meal   So I figured I'd look to see if Hojo was was around and I ended up bumping into a long table full of familiar faces   What a pleasant surprise

*Later that evening, I wanted to see who ate the most....the average number of plates consumed by the NCKA party was 3. To my surprise, Stuart aka Potato River blew everyone away with 5 plates = da new NCKA Hokkaido record 

....oh, apparently at the end of dinner, Art aka Agarcia left a plate full of sushi and the wait staff was pretty pissed off....I used my HAC card and explained to them that the said offender was just fresh in from Mexico and was expecting to have his first American meal of Hotdogs, fries and burgers....they bought it and decided not to cut his fingers off....

I was great meeting you at Hokkaido.  Thanks for the report and all of the great pictures.  It was good to finally meet the infamous Mooch too.  It was a great time with a great bunch of people.

Thanks for taking all those great pictures Hojo. My first time eating at Hokkaido.
Lots of good food and very inviting. I'll definitely go back with the family. Now I
see why Mooch likes to eat there so much. Oh, and the few hotties that works
behind the counters I'm sure has something to do with it also.
