Where is that? My buddy from the Marines has a ranch in Bozeman.

Awesome, I really miss elk hunting and eating! My boss is getting ready to go back to our home state of Arizona for an elk hunt. I've been hooking him up with halibut and rockfish fillets all summer with the promise of some elk meat in trade after his hunt. I'm already hungry.... :drool2

Amphibian, that is in Granite County near Philipsburg.  Every year on opening day, we pound them in the upper pasture.  Usually about 100 head on our place.  All that is left now is some raghorns and spikes with an occassional 6 pntr left.  Later when the weather hits, it loads up again.

I did not even draw a tag there this year.  Next year I hope.

Thanks for the report and pics Rich..

We used to hunt Mulies up in Modoc county.

Then one year, some dipshit used the scope on his 30.06 to look at me :smt013.

Sold my .270 Remington and never hunted again.

Getting pretty bad out there, lots of people, less game, less public ground.  Same as fishing really.  All I can say is that it is going to just get more crowded out there and opportunities are going to be fewer and farther apart.

at least when we fish we don't have idiots pointing firearms at us!   :smt001
I like the challenge of finding places to fish where there are few if any other people around in the Sierras.
I gave up big game hunting years ago, too crowded.  all I hunt now are ground squirrels.

I still hunt, just way different than most people in CA do.  I am dead against road hunting, and hate ATV's. I rarely see other hunters, but still, not like it used to be here or back home.

But we do have threats against us...

Let's see, I've been attacked by a pissed off sea lion.

I've almost been swamped by a curious juvenile gray whale.

I've had an overly aggressive Osprey swoop over me so close that I was buffeted by the air passing over his wings as the SOB stole my fish :smt012

And I know of a certain NCKA legend from Bonnydoon that has been taking a local landlord for a coastal stroll. :smt004
