i've been watching the series also. its no wonder there are debris fields the size of texas floating around. i couldnt understand the paycheck thing. The highliner boat got 77,000lbs of fish and each crew member got $25,000. Chomper's boat got 50,000lbs and each crew member got $800. wtf

Given his (Chompers) willingness to screw fellow boats. Something tells me his books 'aint exactly accurate. Unless he has crazy high operating costs.

No kidding! 2 months on the ocean to make $800 see ya Chompers. I feel bad for his brother, who will most likely be stuck with him.
WHAT?!?!?!  They would make MORE on MINIMUM WAGE!!!!  And not risk their lives!  They could work at Starbucks instead!   :smt044

   Loved  the show.
Chompers is like one of those captains from hell that appear in literature all the time. Like to see how he does getting a new crew.
Capt. Scott Drabinowicz is just like some good ole Army sergeants  from the 60's.Better than any movie portrayal.
Now that I think of it, Chompers is also just like  a lot vintage sarg's as well.

There's got to be a better way to fish. Those big swords ought to be left alone just on the basis of they are big egg layers tho mercury is reason enough.

Throwing that line into the ocean was criminal or should be.

Long lining should be on it's way out. Maybe some high tech future system  for locating fish and go back to the old New England  way of fishing with dory's and a mother ship. That would be fun. Expensive table fare tho.

I have a couple swordfishermen in my family. They use a harpoon, and binocs from the crows' nest to spot 'em. Just two guys on a 40ft PB with a plank. OK, so they only caught one fish in 30 years, but heck I give them mad props for trying each season.

They need crew?  :smt003
Youtube has a couple west coast harpoon vids, definitely worth a look.

As far as the show goes...chompers kept crying the whole time about his operating costs and doing whatever he needs to do to earn a check. That dude is a dirtbag, he didn't have many friends before....don't see him making any new ones in the future either.  The way he runs his boat.... it doesn't seem like he'll be in business long.

Linda Greenlaw????  :smt009  No more open water swims in the bay martin, not sure if its the cold or radioactive water but it might be dulling your senses abit.

The show was entertaining but not good.  I wish they'd bring back the lobstah squads.

Following the AOTY top ten around would make a more entertaining, educational show.  You guys are my heroes.
