Sad news for our Bayan.  I grew up in Pasig and still have a lots of friends and relatives there.  So far, everyone I know is okay but everyone is afraid of what is going to happen next.  They said this is the worse ever.  I hope and pray that they get all the help they need asap.

It stress me out, I've been trying to call no one answers, until I received a text saying they left the house and evacuated that why no one answer the phones, I sent some money and I had my mom organized a relief good operation at the evacuation center... not much but as long as they have something to fill the empty stomach for the day.. I can't even look at the pictures its really a sad day, some damn politician taking advantage of the situation...

NCKA Brothers I hope your relatives find safety and then rebuild and prosper. I think too few Americans know of the courageous resistance your people made to the invading Japanese in WW2. They fought bravely and long saving many lives including those of American soldiers. I salute them and their families--may God protect them now in their hour of need.

If any of you are at all interested in a real life story of their bravery, watch this film based on true events and as one of many that shows their valor and sacrifice as a people:

Hey brothers - best wishes for the safety of your family and friends. Let us know if there is somewhere to make a contribution to help out a bit with some relief.

Take care - John

Some of my wife's cousins were in the flood too, their house and cars are trashed, but it only came to about waist deep around their house so they were able to climb up and out of the water.  Somehow they're still able to post to facebook...  Now the worry is sanitation and disease.

Her grandfathers farm got destroyed by the lahars from Mt. Pinatubo, so they've been kind of unlucky with natural disasters over there. Only recently have they decided it was safe to start rebuilding on that land, on top of the 14' of ash-mud.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

I hope all goes well. Really sad to see people suffering like that from the typhoon.
I will make sure to have Philippines included in our prayers at church as well.

Just got some more sad news, my brother in laws family just manage to saved only what they wearing, the thing that got most people by surprise was the quick rise of the water and caught most of guard.. to make it worse theres another typhoon building in the Pacific Ocean, they ar expecting more rains (God, please help our families) after this, people will be more likely susceptible on diseases such as cholera, dengue, and leptospirosis, I hope we can pass all this tragedy.. I know we cant do much, but a prayers and support will ease a bit of our families sorrow... thanks to everyone's continuing support and prayers..

Indeed, thoughts are with the people of the Philippines and our Filipino NCKA bros & sis's.

This is major disaster & a critical situation at the moment due to the mentioned likelihood of disease, plus another storm is on the way. If you can, please consider a donation to Red Cross or other relief organization.
