Has anyone heard of Adventure Sports? well im personally FED UP! these people hve the worst coustomer service.  when i went to Lake Tahoe with Aburn Trout Fisherman my perception Search 15 flipped, which happened to be due to the crack in the bottom of my kayak that they sold me, this was this kayak's debut. I took it back to them with this complaint. They were just flat out rude. It took me 2 hours at their store to convince them i didn't crack it.  They reluctantly traded it in.  About a month later i bought a lowrance fish finder from them. i get it home and it doesn't work.  I take it back that same day and tell them.  They again accuse me of it being my fault and that i must have done something.  Again almost 2 hours of them testing it to confirm its not functional... :smt013  They send it back to the company.  2 weeks later i call them and they tell me its all worked out and i can come pick up my new fish finder.  Get there and the manager tells me he hasn't got it approved from the company yet. i tell him i just called and he tells me that it was my problem not his!!!! :smt013  after many "unpleasantries" i leave knowing that it should be approved in a couple days. Call again in 4 days and the same manager tells me i can come pick up my old fish finder?!?!?! WTF?! He says that he was reconsidering and that it was probably my fault the fish finder broke.  I end up arguing with him enough that i fanally got my new fish finder.  I told him(completely civilized) that i will never do buissiness with them again. He tells me that i was an ass hole! As you can tell these guys specialize in coustomer service.  All in all My personal suggestion is to avoid these guys.

so does anybody know of any good kayak stores with good selection, knowledge and coustomer service within an hour or so of Sacramento?

if anybody owns any shops personally id drive about 3 hours away.

 thanks for listening,
Mike

Adventure Sports are well known for crappy service. Try California Canoe and Kayak, right by Hazel on Folsom, over in Rancho Cordova.

Guy at Sierra Sports in Auburn is really nice, and certainly wouldn't give you the crap that AS would, but is a bit too mellow (comes with being a boater for a zillion years, I guess) at times, and for that reason I'd not rate him tops for CS. I still buy a fair amount of gear from him though.

For fishing gear (including a fish finder) Fisherman's Warehouse, again on Folsom, just east of Watt, is where I'd go.

Sportsman's Warehouse in Rocklin also carries a pretty good selection of fishing equipment  as well as fishing suitable kayaks. But they're more of a big box type store.

Good luck!

Scott

'Buy my stuff ang get the efff outta here' is the feeling I get from Adventure Sports.
I have purchased two kayaks from them, T16 and a P15; pnly because at the time they were the only ones carrying them.
One time I needed a new drain plug. Nothing in stock so I asked if they could order one for me. After a sighing 'yea' they took my name and number. They probably tossed it in the trash because I never heard from them and when I later called they were clueless.
Another time I went in and asked a few questions, basic questions and the info I got was nothing short of someone trying to BS their way through something they knew nothing about.
Bottom line is that they suck. I have never been back since. They are no longer the only show in town. Thank you internet!

Has anyone heard of Adventure Sports? Well I'm personally FED UP! these people have the worst customer service.

I've bought three kayaks from them. The last one was a few years ago. I never had a problem with them back then and they were actually very helpful. I haven't been back and don't consider going there because of the bad reports I hear from so many people.

I bought my last P13 from REI. It had a bad leak and took on water. I returned it to the Sac store, they took it back and ordered me another...no blame, questions or hassles.

There's so many other good business's offering the same products. No need to put up with bad customer service.

Tote, you an find those kinds of things readily from the on-line kayaks stores and there are three I recommend: Hook1 (a board sponsor in SoCal), Kayak Fishing Stuff (in NJ--they do a lot of Striper and Bluefish fishing and have a great rudder kit I have on my T-15), and Kayay Fishing Supplies in SoCal. They all have great customer service, get items to you quickly, and are very helpful with rigging.

As for local shops, Cal Canoe and Kayak's owner Keith is a standup guy in my experience--I know him from Bay Area Sea Kayakers--he understands customer service. If something goes wrong, let him know and he'll fix it pronto. No experience with the others in that area.

Yep, my wife and I went in their store once, spent about 30 minutes looking around and talking to the salesman, and decided we would never go there again. Pretty much the same experience as everybody else already mentioned.

As for fishing gear i always buy my stuff at fishermans Warhouse because the people there are the smartest around.  I just happened to buy a fish finder there since it was on sale. From now on i dont care.

fishermans Warhouse

I was narrowing it to kayaking gear, but, yes, I buy lures, baits, and other general boating gear from FW in Cupertino when ever I can. They have some of the best prices and knowledgeable staff around. The Cupertino store, last I checked by asking something, didn't have much kayak fishing expertise--but I know the Fresno store does.

This was 'back in the day' before such things were so readily available.

That's really A shame....  :smt011

I have bought Kayaks from them long ago, had a Good experience with them, but they also knew I was well connected...

I have never been to impressed with their lack of Giving back to the sport and therefore will not do business with them. They do seem to undercut anyone in the business with no scruples about it, and with rising customer service complaints in the age of internet...

 Can you say Wheelezee????

Been seeing complaints on craigslist about them too....

California Canoe and Kayak is a Good Place and never heard a complaint,

Keith definitely takes care of NCKA members   :smt004

Last May I was over in the Sac area for a couple days on biz and went to all the kayak and tackle stores I could find. They were the only store I went to that I felt I was bothering them by being in their store and asking questions

It seems that we get a thread about A.S. every 6 months or so. :smt011   Maybe bassmanben should have an article about them on the front page. :smt044

I stopped by the REI used equip sale this morning and there was the kayak I returned. Had it marked down to $429. It was gone when I returned from my bike ride

This is what happens to REI returns.

Thanks for the headsup futhel and sharing the bad experienced you had with them. I hear they also pull the bait and switched act. :smt011

When I was buying my Revo I saw them at the Sac ISE. They gave me a great price.....but after talking to them more I found out they were trying to dump the '08 model on me.

I bought elsewhere.
The fishing was so good I thought I was there yesterday!
