Would this be a good time for me to dig up my Members Only jacket, along with my Angel Flights and some bitchin Topsiders?

Just stop me before I unleash the Dolphin shorts!

This was not an easy decision but recently we have had very large number of people show up to spots after a posting. Chance? perhaps, heard it from someone else maybe. The impact was that more and more people stopped posting reports. We want to encourage people to share and this is one way we think will encourage it.

I think this is a great idea! In fact, I suggested we do this exact thing about 3 years ago. And 2 years ago. And last year. The benefits are many and the drawbacks are nil.

well I guess I am  a big time lurker.  I like reading what people have been catching out there when I am stuck at work.  I have not had much time to fish this last year and have enjoyed living vicariously through the members here.  It is funny how reading about fishing reduces my stress level sometimes.  Well I guess I now need four more posts.  Oh well I guess I will have to be more active

I think that is what Bill is looking for. It's a tough call, but I think ten quality posts isn't too much to ask. I know for me, my first 10 posts were asking about the types of boats available, and advice on where to test paddle. I don't think I posted a fishing report until 20 or 30 posts, but I was actively participating.

I also participate in a fishing board in Arizona that has a rule stating you must make a "real" post at least once a month. "way to go's" and "me too's" don't count. If you don't they delete your account!  :smt074

It's a good move I think. I know last weekend I was thinking how the success of the day might translate into chaos for the following days.
10 posts is nothing really. I could see the number being higher & still be justified. But maybe that's just because I've been here a while...

I have 11 posts (this makes twelve...) and I don't have access to the reports section.

Edit: Now with twelve, I have access.  I swear I'm not trying to pad posts!  :smt009

Good call, Bill!  Agreed it may be a bit generous, even!

Very few, if any, sources out there offer real deal reports, not to mention all the other info that's freely available here.  It takes some thought and work to post a good report...  some have taken it to another level!

Heck I'll tell you right now I'd gladly pay for the privilege of reading the content here...  No glossy magazine, weekly rag, or website out there can compare.

Thank you, Bill!

I totally agree with this move. I stopped reading coastside right before they began charging. I found the 'reports' section really useless. It was mostly 5 guys raggin' on one another (esp w/o a salmon season). NCKA is a welcoming and informative site loaded with great reads. I agree that this site has become the go to site for reports. And many, many non participants take the info and run (look at paradise, I don't recall ever hearing about it and now there are many PB's there on the weekend). I am all for sharing but it has to go both ways. You give, you get. 10 posts is nothing if you really want to be a part of the community.

It will help some of the OG post more too.  I hate to say it, but I hesitate to post reports, and often when I do, they are obscured in another report somewhere.

It would be nice to have a hookups section with a minimum number of posts too ... like 1000!!!

Dang, I only have 9 posts but now I have 10  :smt001.  But then again I have one or two Pyramid Lake Reports (which I can't see but soon will).
