X-Factor Real Weight?

I went to OutbackSports after the Paradise BBQ to take a look at an X-Factor they had there.  This version I looked at was a non-fishNdive, so no rod holders, and missing the rear hatch.  But it felt way heavier to pickup to me than the T15. 

Online its rated at 62#, vs the Trident 15 at 60#.  But felt a bit heavier than that too me.  I imagine that it would weigh more if the hatch was installed and the flush-mount holders too.

Can anyone confirm if this is its true weight?

Hawk, AKA Swellrider, sells Malibu boats at his business in Eureka - "Humboats".  Domenic, Harputmanuki, Ken from Santa Cruz, myself and many others bought our X's there.  Hawk has mentioned on many occassions how the listed weight of the X-Factor doesn't seem to jive with the actual weight.

Buck it up, Dude!   

It's a little heavy, but the ultra-stability is soooo nice to have on Big Blue.

Just to clarify, 62lbs. is our listed BASE weight.  When outfitting the kayak and turning it into a Recreational or a Fish and Dive model, the weight goes up to around 68lbs. to 72lbs.  That may be where the difference in weight is that you are seeing.

'tis beefy alright - but well worth it in the salt like AK said-stable, comfortable, tons o' storage (got 50# of fish?) and did I say comfortable? yeah, i have one, too.

Having pulled kayaks up a cliff by rope, I can say the X factor is the second heaviest boat.  The heaviest is Jmaireys scupper pro made with 4 inches of plastic all around.  Or maybe its solid plastic

To me the weight is either easy to lift or hard to lift.  Not much in between.  So as you get into the bigger yaks, they are all "hard to lift."  So I would just go with what suits your needs best and not worry about a few pounds either way.

Nothing but good things to say about the X. Great paddling yak. Yeah it's a bit heavy but nothing you can't handle. If Mooch can lift it anyone can.

So thanks for the replies, but was really wondering if someone has actually weighed the boat or knows for "sure" the weight.  Maybe I can take our shipper scale from work and weigh it myself someday!

Having schlepped a zillion of them the answer is there is no answer.  The weight varies between boats signifcantly.  They are all heavier than the stated weight.  It never bothered me, and I have put more miles on one than pretty much anyone.

Thanks Sean!  Maybe I shouldn't obsess about the weight, but have been doing comparisons and weight was originally one of the big factors in choosing a new boat for me. 

But basically I got really tired of the weight of the Outback (and complaints when people helped carry it ) and was looking for something lighter and less complicated for surf launches and longer hauls to the water.

They X-Factors are really impressive though!  Especially when clinging to the side of it

Yeah, and depending what all you stow in it to cart around . .  .   - abs, (8's or 10's?- it matters for shell and meat mass!)  fish, fins, weight belt, poles, tackle, paddle, vest, net, food, beverages, electronics, pole spear, pump... did I miss anything?

BTW-your leaking situation is not something I would use as a gage to switch manufacturers...I had more than a few seriously leaky X-factors over time.  The seat support scupper in particular is a real problem, most leave the factory patched.  The factory patch (hot glue and a dowel) is super hokey but proven to be durable however.

when i paddled my xfactor i would curse the beast!  however once i started fishing, all sins were forgotten.  it is an excellent fishing platform.  rockfish, stripers, sturgeon, not so much fun trolling though.
now i mostly paddle a T15 trident, i like to get the newest stuff!

As far as the weight I can still press it up onto the top of my Montero so it can't weight much more than my old OK Malibu Two XL did. And as far as speed goes, I've been taking it out onto the lake with the GPS to see how fast it paddles. With kiddo up front and fido in the tank well and me not skipping any meals, we're up past the 550# mark with passengers and I can consistently hold 3.5 mph even into a mild breeze. I'm not going to set any world speed records but I figure I can hit a spot 2-miles from the launch within a half hour and never worry about tipping.
