We met at the camp ground around 6:15am and getting ready for a fun day

We launched around 6:45am and heading over to the sand bar

And started digging holes

Come on Craig, we need more weight  :smt003

We think it's deep enough.  Isn't it?

Allen fishing for clams

And now it's my turn  :smt003

Ah hah...got one and it's still squirting  :smt003

We all got our limits so it's time to head back

Lots of clams

Ben & his wife with their limits

Time to clean some clams

Later we went to the beach nearby and pumped some Ghost shrimps

Yeah... Allen give it a try.  If not, give it to me, I'll be happy to eat it.  Great stuff RAW!

We ate some hot dogs BBQ thanks to Allen home made propane stove (Thank you very much) and heading home.  This campground was packed!

We saw a helicopter landed (far right) for some kinds of emergency at the campground on the way out

And the beach are full of people too

Thank you Craig & Allen for the hot dogs and the clams.  I had a fun day today and would love to do it again soon.

Sonny, what a great post! Weren't those flags something else?Very beautiful. I lft my wetsuit at home after having to wash it from the halibut trip. I just drove off with it still in the drier. Thanks Allen for the loan of your waders.I guess I will just have to buck up and buy some of the PVC drainage pipe. We didnt use those yeras ago and no problems getting big clams within the first 3 ft. Now the big ones are about 6 ft down. good to meet some new folks and we had some fun. Bens wife was on her maiden voyage in her new used hobie sport. She was really excited. It was like a small city out at Lawsons. People everywhere. I haven't been on my scupper pro for almost 6 mos since I bought the t-15 and man it felt so good to be back on that kayak. Fast and low. On the way back in there were some small wind waves as the tide pushed up on the sand bar of about a foot and just playing in them sideways under power was so fun. They were about 2 ft apart and witrh the flick on the hips it just loosened up the whole lower back. 2 days in a row of fun. Tommorrow? Hmmmmmm. Abalone diving? Thanks again Sonny for providing a fun and positive interaction. Your attitude and demeanor are spectacular.

Raw clam is so good. There was not one hint of anything offensive. Just a mild sweet flavor and vet tender. Next time we are going down 6ft for the big ones. Chuck, are you in?

Scored big WAF points today preparing fresh clam Sashimi for my wife!  She loves it very much so I won't have problem go clamming anytime soon. Just say when :white

Judging from the pictures and the smiles it looks like yet another great outing...digging deep, muddy clothes and buckets of clams.  Good going!

It looks like you beat a lot of people to the clam motherlode so yakkers rule again.  Way to go Ben, got your wife to join the madness...after seeing all the women OTW at Paradise, I see a trend here.

I'm with Allen...raw anything other than veggies...ewww.  BTW, I'm a Microbiologist...seen too many pictures and related ailments going through school.  Trust me, you're better off not knowing.

How did those post hole diggers work out?

Sonny, I'm disappointed that you weren't paddling with your shovel...LOL.  Great pictures as usual and I hope the person that received the helicopter ride is OK.

Great report and huge clams. Tomales Bay is one of my favorite hunting grounds for Halibut in my powerboat. And, the rockfishing is great too, when you can shoot the mouth and go outside. Looks like all had a ripping time. Time to plan a Tomales trip soon. Craig, you are one hell of a clam digger.

Back to the subject of clam sashimi, are they really good?  never tried one before but willing to try.  I figure I have enough parasites on my own stomach that anything coming in will be outnumbered.

Let me tell you this, I don't like raw sea food except for fresh Salmon and this type of clam!  You should only eat the neck (tube) raw after removed the thin skin and discard the black part of the neck.  When eat the neck raw, it has a slight sweet flavor and the tender.  Add a little soy sauce & wasabi and it's delicious!
