Got this from one of the news reports. Wonder if we will have a new story soon.

The trawler collision wasn’t the only havoc whipped up by the winds on the bridge. A big rig was also blown over and a kayaker had to be rescued by firefighters after he was stranded next to the structure.

Not a good day to be out on a kayak.

I wonder how far north he launched?  Richmond? :smt044

My co-worker (Edgar - one of Aquan's kayak instructors) was out in the Bay yesterday on a sit-inside-kayak (Seda / Glider). He put in at the Richmond Bridge at 5:30AM and paddled under the Golden Gate,Bay Bridge,San Mateo and then ended at the Dumbarton Bridge at 2PM. He paddled roughly 40 miles - with the wind behind his back the whole way!!!

* He had a SPOT (for safety) on board and we were able to track his progress during the entire trip.

Nah... it was guy on a surfski.  I know it can be a fun challenge to ride the bay chop, but IMHO, it was plain stupid to be out there in near 60 mph winds.

I'm surprised the guy needed rescue  It ain't gonna be cheap   He probably would've been better off landing in epa or alviso and taking a cab home

I was thinking the same thing I would have been cheeper and easer just to pass the bridge and put in on the bank.  The wind would have pushed you right up there.
