Repairing neoprene
« on: January 24, 2005, 07:11:53 pm »
After 3 years of use my booties were pretty beat up, with a few holes and many small tears.  I looked around for something to fix them with and found that 'goop' lists neoprene as something it can adhere to.  I went to wal-mart and found that they have 'household welder' instead of goop, but it's pretty much the same stuff.  It has toulene as a solvent, which melts neoprene a tiny bit and causes the two to mix - literally welding the neoprene together again.  Now my boots have lots of patches, but are at least not letting water in wholesale anymore.

Thanks for the tip.... I've looking for a good wetsuit repair.  Sharp hooks and fish spines are tough on neoprene.
