I'm 1/4 Dutch, but that side of the family is hardcore catholic.  Not very goldmember-ish at all - they wouldn't even let us kids wear shorts in the summer.  Their name means 'cheese' in Dutch, and probably explains my love for smoked gouda.  ;)

Regarding the dutch.. what's up with salmiakdrop?  I mean why would anyone take the worst flavored candy there is (liquorice) and add ammonia (ammonium chloride salt).  I don't get it.

My mom was a real "Oakie from Muskogie" and dad was a genuine hill-billy from "Hoot Owl Holler," [ near Burnsville ] North Carolina.
I often wonder how my own consciousness would have developed had dad not joined the military and re-directed his and my path. In the army and a war or two, he lost the racism he was born into and learned from real life experience that we are all just folks.
There but for the luck of the draw might still be in "Hoot owl holler" wearing suspenders, plantin' corn, catchin catfish from the riverbank and narrowminded "as all get out.."
I used to be a little ashamed of being a "corn fed, white bread honkey" but have learned that shame and pride are opposite sides of the same worthless coin.
However, when kayaking in the hot summer sun, I feel a little envious of our browner brethern while re-applying my $10.00 a tube Bullfrog SFP factor 35.

With my family in private we will often do this, usually pertaining to the asian driving skills,  :smt005 however in public or on the internet I personally would not. The problem is that others who hear these jokes may think it is OK for them to say these things even though they are not of that race. Racism is such a sensitive subject, the safest thing is to avoid the subject in public forums. Publically I do laugh at myself, like the stupid things I have done just not about race. BTW, let's hookup for some rock fish this year.

Good going, Bill, that guy was a d*ck! I think I might have added to the fuel by not just deleting the thread when he was first showing his d*ckness, I thought it might be salvaged, but the second I saw the race thing, I deleted the whole thread. Also, I wasnt my usual mellow self in my replies to him, he was trying to get my goat and it worked...
 I think the racial diversity of NCKA should be a thing celebrated, so, again, good move!
