Hi Yakers:

I was walking off stress when both my Calfs and, my Toes cramped up.
The pain was so bad, I hit the sidewalk. :smt044 I was on the sidewalk
for about 1/2 Hr. when  a good Guy helped me on my feet so, I could make it to my car.
Anyone know how to workout Leg cramps?

simple cramps are often from the cold, so heat will help, after major exercise it could be low potassium try eating a banana.  I have to ask, when this was going on could you extend and retract your feet?  If you are having a problem with this and it isn't going away in a short amount of time see a doctor.  A lot of American die from DVT's Deep Vein Thrombosis, starts in the lower extremity as a clot, it ends up in the blood stream, and it ends up in a lung.

Ernie
In 1985 I experienced the same type of cramps as you, as time went on I could not walk 30 feet without my calves pulling up into a cramp.
Have the Doctor check the pulse in your feet. I had no pulse to either foot. An angiogram showed both arteries plugged.
After the Doctor did an angioplasty (Expansion of the Arteries in the blocked area) I have not had a problem there since.
See the doctor right away.

Ernie, let us know how it turns out. Hopefully, it's nothing serious but glad to hear you're not wasting any time getting it checked out. Doesn't sound like something you want to mess around with.

I take potassium when hiking, backpacking and diving, it really seems to work.

Leg cramps can be attributed to Diabeties as well.  Lower blood flow due the high sugars.  Always a good idea to get checked out.  Hopefully it isn't anything serious.

I sent mendohead a message asking how he is since his cramp episode and here is his good news answer.

Hi G:

No DVT just a muscle spasm.

Thanks
Ernie
