Just got a used X-Factor, it came with out the front hatch. It has the molded shape of the hatch and the cross straps. My question is, is it worth it to cut out and install the hatch or do they leak more than than their worth.

Depends on what you plan on doing.  It is definitely an extra opportunity for water to get into the boat, but it will also add major utility to the yak.

I have the "Gator Hatch" on mine.  I am often in choppy water with significant spray and waves hitting the bow.  I've never even adjusted the straps even though I notice when I open or close the hatch that it seems loose.  I'm amazed at how the gasket system does seem to keep the water out.  The front hatch is, IMO, by far the most useful hatch.  The Gator Hatch is a big upgrade if you want to quickly mount a tripod through it's webbing or have a 13 year old fishing up front.

Good luck with it.   :smt001
