My days of fishing in California are over for a while.  I am moving to Texas.  Lucky for me, my last two days on the delta weren't my usual skunk pattern.  I had really good action on Wed. with 3 or 4 LMB and who knows how many stripers.  Most of the stripers were dinks, but fun to catch.  It was especially fun watching the birds work the water and actually hooking up in a mini boil.  Another first for me.

Today was a little slower.  I missed a keeper on the first cast (pretty sure a keeper the way it was fighting).  A little while later I found a sweet spot by the shipwreck on the outer edge of big break.  There was current moving over the wreck, 5 or 6 feet out to 15 feet of water.  I had several hits in the same spot with the rattle trap.  Unfortunately, my reflexes were slow and couldn't set the hook on all.  I ended up with a decent keeper from there.

It is awesome that my last Cali fishing trip was close to perfect, by my standards.  No wind, little or no boat traffic, and plenty of strikes on the rattle trap (I used the same lure for two days by the way.  Rare for me)

I had a great time fishing with some of you and enjoyed the awesome reports, not to mention the great advice that all of you come up with when I needed it.  Thanks to all.

Right on Ben.  Great to see that you got extra nice conditions out there, not to mention some fish out of a place that has been stingy for you.

There are a couple bass tournament lakes down where you are headed that I'm sure you have heard about.  Good luck in your new adventure, it was nice to fish with you.   :salut:

In all aspects, that was a top-notch farewell post, Sumo.  I didn't have the pleasure of knowing you, but I've seen your name in excellent context consistently.  Good luck in your new home, and be sure to stay in touch.   :smt001

Ben, good luck in Texas. It was good to meet and fish with you a couple times.
I hear Texas has some big lakes with big stripers in them... go get 'em!
If you don't know where you're headed, any road could get you there.

Nice way to leave California for sure...way to go get those fish that have dodged you in the past.  Perfect weather, and a productive day on the water: it couldn't get any better!

Good luck in Texas.  It was great to have fished with you may times.

Thanks, everyone, for wishing me luck.

Mickfish: yes, I will be close to the gulf-Houston.  I hope to fish for redfish and sea trout.  I already checked out texaskayakfisherman.com.  Hopefully, the Texas folks are as friendly as you guys.

Hey Ben. It was (is) good to know you. You're going to see some big LMB down there. Next time I'm in Houston, I'll touch bases with you. BTW, homes are much cheaper there.

BTW, homes are much cheaper there.

That is the main reason I am going.  150k gets you a gorgeous home in a nice neighborhood and little or no commute.
