I think the assumption is that most of us are members of Coastside and already have log-in info for that site.  Unfortunately I am not one of those people...between fishing, paintball and martial arts I already belong to about 15 e-groups and just haven't gotten around to joining Coastside yet...

Cool, I haven't seen deer in the ocean (yet), but we have seen them crossing the Russian River and the picture of the ones below on Lake Mendocino.....he had a little "lovin" on his mind but the doe out swam him.

Usagi.........how'du like that "paint ball?"

They way they seem to do it, (teams, shooting at one another behind plastic blow-up defense points, within a very enclosed area....perhaps only 300x300-feet...and always with full auto weapons)....

Events that are as "social" and as large-in-terms-of-the-number-of-perticipants as Archery Meets........

I would think 2 x 2 stalking in deeply wooded/featured landscape---with the limits set by gps boundary---would come closer to, you know, "the Real thing."..........?????.............

Paintball is right up there with fishing for me...been playing since 1988 or so.  Mostly woodsball...the field you described with the inflatable bunkers is called speedball.  I never really got into that...I like stalking my prey.  :smt003

The game last weekend was on a 900 acre cattle ranch that has about 40 acres open as a paintball field, with several dozen wooden bunkers and buildings, as well as a number of abandoned vehicles spread about the playing area.  It's a mixture of wooded hills and big flat rolling fields covered with buildings.  A lot of cow patties too.   :smt002 Definitely not speedball...we had about 100 players on two teams running constant missions against each other (go to such & such GPS coordinate and intercept the opforce as they attempt to recover a hidden artifact, get a player inside the enemy CP to release a "chemical weapon" - stink vial - et cetera.  Often there's night play from 9-midnight, but this game everyone was too pooped and about half of the crew abandoned the campsite for the local Indian casino.  I was XO for my team (usually I run and gun) so it was a different experience for me, running the radios for our side, sending players on missions, et cetera.  It was tons of fun.   :smt004

You don't quit playing because you get old, you get old because you quit playing...
