Another Portable FF System...

Developed this system because my first yak (Malibu 2XL) had multiple seating positions and no internal hull access. Like SteveS, I use it now primarily for fishing on rental yaks when traveling. The transducer is mounted to the rod holders on the seat and the PVC "L" joint is not glued so you can easily flip it up and down for landings and to clear weeds. The battery is stored in a dry box in the pouch behind the seat. The FF is mounted to a RAM mount which is attached to a 1/4" x 1.5" x 18" aluminum bar which is attached to the seat. A Plano tackle box is attached to the bar which provides storage and stability. For surf launches, the FF head can be detached or on a P15 angler the FF can be folded forward and strapped down with the tackle box strap. The downside is that the transducer adds a small amount of drag and does collect weeds and fishing line. The flip up design is convenient, but the shoot through hull or scupper hole installation are superior.
