I was real bummed I didn't get a chance to browse the shop too.  I can see why they'd be happy to sponsor these things, I'd have happilly stocked up on the more unusual gear if I wasn't in such a hurry to get back to work.

Yup.  I was there with the rest of you.  Got my PG251 done in record time only to find out there were some other problems with the doohicky-whatchamacallit.  Tore it back down, and banged my head for a while.  Finally got it back together but I ran out of time.  I'm going to see if I can sneak out of here early to head back and get the other reals done.

Thanks for getting my old reel back into action.  It was pretty bad and was "retired", just sitting on the shelf for several years.  Now, its better than new.  I didn't know how good it could get.

I'm definitely going to try and make another seminar because I've got a few more in need of some "help".

Also, thanks for fixing the handle too.  I really appreciate all the time you spent on my reel.

So I took that reel and respooled it with 400 yards of new 30lb mono and when I was done the right hand bearing had gone from tight to halfway out.  I've noticed this on my penn 9s as well as the senator.  While stripping the old line the LH bearing also worked itself halfway out.   I guess this is how they escaped on me.  How can I make them stay, or do I have to just keep checking their tightness while I'm fishing?  I've put a piece of tape over them for now, but that's kind of crude.

Are you talking about the threaded cap that adjusts the tension in "free spool"?

I've had some slowly back off, but for the most part, they don't move much on the older penn reels that I've got.

Granted, an entire spool of line only got it about halfway off, but I already lost it once...

ps, it's the black side plate 3/0 senator, right?  the bushing on the right sideplate should be cranked down hard enough to never back out.  the bushing on the left side plate has a heavy spring underneath to maintain tension and keep the bushing from backing out.  is this the right reel?
