Had so many choices, ended up launching at Fraisiers bait ramp, he let me go for free, I headed out, my first time yaking there, past the isle south towards the bridge then drifted for nada... had shiners, came back wih the tide and wind and tied off to a piling, tossed a shiner, fly-line and zapppo! wide open run, un-tied and let him pull me for a while, hoping for a butt, but...
saw a fast boat there, guy said it does 180 mph.
Saw half a foot of what I thought was pipe and I found my new net too.
I love the Trident, its a pretty badass boat, way stable and tons of room, but I think I would like a rudder., in the cross wind and current ,i was paddling on one side for over an hour, the prowler would do that too.
Lots of choices this weekend to fish ...

Good to see the new kayak gettin' wet! The Arneson folks have been putting on serious speed for years, founder Howard Arneson invented the "pool sweep", made a fortune and indulged his obsession for turbine engine powered catamarans - you know those with around 5,000 HP and such. And they perfected a "surface drive" to put the power to the water. - sorry to kinda jack the thread Ben but you brought it up with the photo!  :smt003

Way to stick a fish on its maiden voyage.  Either you've already installed a FF or it came loaded, either way, that is fantastic.  It looks good on you, or vice versa.

That is one BIG a$$ boat.  They even had to modify the truck to haul that bastard.

BTW, what is the second picture?

Thanks for the on the water report on the Trident 13.  I'm looking forward to getting one myself soon.

As for the second photo, it is an isopod of some sort.

It does looks a lot like Cymothoa exigua, a parasitic isopod that effectively eats and replaces the tongue of its host.  After the isopod eats the tongue, the host fish will actually use the isopod as a tongue to help manipulate it's food.  The isopod then eats bits of mushed up food from the fishes mouth.  Anyway, I doubt it is the parasitic tongue isopod, but it's such a cool story I had to share.

Thanks Brian, although I'm going to have to disagree with you on the

part.  Call me weak, but it kind of wigged me out.  Just imagining myself as a fish and having something eat my tongue was difficult to stomach - pun intended.  I'd have to say though that that is symbiosis at its finest.

I don't know what those white things are but I've seen them come from the gills of rockfish caught at the Farallones.  Nasty looking things.

Ben, now I can stop thinking about it as "my" boat...  The fact that you have it rigged, in the water, and bloody only FOUR days after getting it proves the best man won!

Arneson's boats are beatiful thing.  I've seen them run out of Marin a few times and wholly crap batman!!!! Horsepower is a beautiful thing :smt007..... especially a jet turbine with a surface drive.

He'll make appearances out at Benicia for their boat race events as well.  Good stuff.
