Here's a link to some info about the beer festival: http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php/topic,13065.0.html
I wish the festival was still held next to the coastguard jetty. That would've been a perfect location, as far as kayaking goes. But the fairgrounds aren't very far so I shouldn't complain.

Fish until noon, then have a couple brews and deep-fried oreos!
Although, I'm not completely sold on MBK for Sat. The idea of WSB, halibut, and t-sharks in Capitola is quite attractive. I guess it will depend on how successful our trip to MBK goes tomorrow.

I have never fished MBK. WSB sounds interesting. How do you fish for it... bait, lure? Where do they hang out? Top/bottom feeders? Season (Winter, spring, summer , fall)? Where will the launch be? Aren't you going with Northern Boy tomorrow? Too many questions already. Anyway, I will try to make it to this outing.
Appreciate the info. Good luck and be safe tomorrow.

Fishing and beer sounds like a dream. Would any gracious NCKAer in the Monterey area have some space for safe, temporary storage of a kayak, while another humble NCKAer :smt003 partakes in frosty beer-inspired festivities? You'd be my hero... maybe even the wind beneath my wings.  :smt006

Fished MBK with naerob and northern boy today. We concentrated on halibut all day with no luck. I paddled all the way to Seaside where there were 4 or 5 boats. Only heard of one hali caught all day, estimated 6lbs. The wind came up big time at 11 and it was a struggle to get back to the launch. Then I paddled out to Cannery row to try for rockies. No luck. Came back in at 2, the wind was still blowing hard. That wind kicked my a$$.
And now I have some junk to take care of tomorrow morning before fishing. Bummer. So I will be launching pretty late. Still palnning to hit the beerfest too. Gelbyak, I'd offer to let you store your yak at my house but its 15 minutes north of Monterey so you'd have to backtrack a bit. Send me a PM if so.

I'm definitely not going back to MBK tomorrow. I no longer believe in halibut. Either going to Carmel River beach or Coral st.

as the halibut continue to give us yakkers the finger, Nathan and I will be going out of coral street.  Will monitor 69.  Nathans underage and I turn beet red and feel like I have a fever after half a beer so the beer festival is out.

now a rib festival...
