Elk 2008 - Diving
« on: July 19, 2008, 01:53:01 pm »
I'll be driving up on Friday but I don't think I'll be therer early enough to dive so is anyone diving on Sunday?  I'm hoping to dive on Sunday and find somewhere to stay that night and maybe dive Gualala or some other place on Monday.

I'm sure some of you have your secret spots but I'd like to hook up with a couple of people mostly for that sense of security.  I'd also like to dive with someone who has more experience than Art and Joel...it's time I learn a little something from someone who actually knows what they're doing.

Hey Angel,
I've got Monday off so my tentative plan is do either a little am fishing or diving before the drive home. Since I have Monday to rinse stuff & rig my new kayak :smt044 I don't have to leave until 1 or 2pm. My wife has expressed interest in some paddling/free diving too. I can't say I've too much recent experience, most of my diving was done about 9 years ago, but I'm game.

Excellent Sean, I'm hoping to tag a couple of nice fish with the polespear.  It's time that Gat-Ku of mine see's some action.  But just in case I still suck with it I'll have the spear gun.  Of course I'll also have the ab iron.

Ill be up for an ab-dive on Sunday, how are the abs outside of Albion river?
It looks like a bit of an easier launch than Elk...

Hey Ben, are you staying at the Albion Campground Thursday night?   I think Zealander and I might end up there on our way down from WA/OR.  (need to make some reservations yet)  I'll be up for some ab diving there if we do.

I think we're going up on Fri morn, fish the derby Sat, then dive/fish on Sunday. Albion seems like the spot on Sunday. We're bringing Anita's yak too, she's not too great on the swells so the river might be the spot for us.
Im bringing speargun/iron and maybe get some action outside the mouth. Still a little early for the white sharks so Im thingking the river mouth will be fairly shark-free. Except for the odd one of course...

I'll be at Elk on Thursday.

Brian, let me know if I can hang with you guys at Albion. I camped there last year with Randall (bigfoot) but did not get the chance to explore the area. Would not mind doing some diving / fishing there as well :smt002

I'm bringing up the gear, but being this is my first trip to Elk I will need a few pointers on the lay of the land. I think we have dove just about every spot on the north coast in my "younger" days but they are all a blurr now.

Joel, as long as you don't you bring that pole spear and bad aim of yours along, I don't see why not.  I always wanted to swim with the majestic manatee.

I'll be bringing dive gear as well. If conditions permit, I might be in the water on Friday. Would also like to do a Sunday morning dive session.

I'm definetly bringing my dive gear, but I've got no plans. I'm just going to play it be ear. I'm off before and after the  weekend, so I may come up early and/or stay later. Don't know. Depends on the conditions we get.
