Can anyone recommend a SOT that's more efficient for covering distance than an OK Pro?  I'm finding myself exploring further pinnacles now that I have GPS.  I was thinking the Tarpon 160?  What's the longest SOT?

The T160 is an awsome "going the distance" kayak. Others to consider is the Cobra Expedition, Heritage pro 17 or even a Perception Bimini  :smt045

Don't forget the Hobie Adventure coming in @ 16'. Strap on the turbo fins to cover even more ground faster.

Hey Z, you forgot about the optional sailing package on the Adventure.  Nothing like letting a little breeze do much of the work for you.

I have and recommend the T160i

If you want a really fast boat, look into the South African fiberglass boats, the kaskazi dorado is an awesome looking boat but hard to get and expensive.

Best bet is T160i

imho

I will soon be selling my old school T160; fastest paddling SOT to date IMO.
Downsizing the fleet as well as a lot of things around the house.

What's the difference between the 160 and the 160i?

Are these boats faster than a Pro?

Thanks for the help.

Tote, I may be interested.  Does that have 2 hatches?

scwafish, who has one of those, was commenting that although it's fast it's a really wet ride. No scuppers in the seat area. yakfishing is a watersport and all but sitting in a puddle is lame.

If you have an OK Scupper Pro, don't expect worlds of difference between it and a T160 when it comes to straight line performance. TheT160 does deliver slightly better top speeds. But in my mind, the real magic is that it does so with increased stability, dryness and lower hull noise levels.

You might consider the Hurricane Phoenix 160. It is much like the T160i, with a bit more rocker and a rounded chine. The boat is not rotomolded, it is vacuum-formed, making it lighter and stiffer while retaining the durability of plastic.  I had a chance to demo one recently. I took it for a spin through the bay, then launched it through legitimate 4-ft surf at La Jolla.

Later, I loaned the demo boat to John Pawlak of Okuma. He posted this review: http://www.okumafishingforums.com/showthread.php?t=961

This baby is lightning quick for a 28-in wide SOT. It gets my thumbs up.
