Chebro Easter Morning
« on: March 23, 2008, 10:30:01 pm »
Well I hit Chesbro before my brunch apptmt with the inlaws.  Cold morning, warmed up really nicely.  Bright sun, no wind, but the water looked like chocolate milk.  Put in at the boat ramp.  Was peeved to find the launch wasn't even in the water!  It certainly wasn't b/c of lack of water, as you can see the level is WAY up, just a couple feet from capacity.  Loving it, it is completely flooded in the north end.  lots of bankies fishing the Willow Springs flats.  Saw one guy trolling in an inflatable.  he picked up a few bass dragging a worm by the dam.

Lost my one bite of the day on a crankbait by the cove in the picture.  Give it 2 more weeks of calm warm weather and the bite is going to bust open, particularly the night bite for crappie.  it's just too muddy right now.

I love the drive through the South bay lakes chain.  pretty bucolic area that really comes alive during spring.  Oh, and I finally bought a roof rack with hulla port.  really improves life, and peace of mind.

Searching for fish I am.
Eat them I will.

Couldn't make it... :smt012  Wife wasn't feeling well, so I ended up taking care of her.  I'm glad to see the water level is nice an high, always wanted to float to the far end and fish the sunken bushes and tress there.  Oh well, maybe in a few weeks!

Looks like you got a new car too!  :smt007
Dang, and I was planning to just follow you around until your Hobie fell off the roof again, then claim "finders-keepers rules"  :smt044
I love that area too. Pretty much grew up fishing around there. Chesbro is a weird lake though. I spent a lot more time at Uvas and Calero And the various farm ponds back in there! Running from farmers...ahhh, those were the days....
Thanks for the report+pics,

I actually sold my car through craigs a few weeks ago.  Wanted to do the transaction in public so I timed it to occur at the AOTY fete at aquan!  Backcountry said he'd get my back in case something shady went down.  And since he's ALWAYS strapped, I knew i'd be safe. :smt068 :smt070 :smt066.  j/k.   So I drove to AOTY in my own vehicle, then planned on taking caltrain home.  But Papa Bill was totally cool and let me bum a lift from him.  NCKA rules.

I plan on keeping tabs on the crappie and bass bite on Uvas and the 'Bro.  Maybe entice you to come over north for a change!   :smt003  Seriously, I'm giving it another 2 to 3 weeks and it should be pretty fun for the shallow water stuff..

Sorry to hear about the wife's feeling under the weather, AlshobieOutback.  The lake is still there, and its only going to get better so you didn't miss anything.  Even in a month, there is still gonna be a TON of flooded areas to play in.

Yeah, sucks... Just got the test results back, wife has MONO!  Now I am worried that I may get it too and that would seriously impact fishing!  Apparently not much that can be done but take it easy, get plenty of rest and take ibuprofen for pain as needed.  Sucks...! :smt009

Alright, this is totally random. But funny.

You know those Jeff Foxworthy jokes "You might be a redneck IF..." ? Right?

Well, I have a new one thats appropriate for NCKA.

Imagine this in Jeff Foxworthy's voice:

You might have....the Madness!"
