Linda Mar Salmon and Fog
« on: July 23, 2005, 05:04:32 pm »
Continuing from where Bill left off chris and I veered east toward Mori Point.  We saw bait jumping and thought maybe some stripers were holding off the beach.  Chris attempted to make bait but was unsuccesful and we began to mooch with frozen chovie.  As the fog got super thick we decided to head back but not before a 24# salmon nibbled on my chovie :smt003 .  After a 24 minute fight that resulted in me being towed every which way Chris assisted with a great net!

We headed back under the guidence of Chris and his compass.  Great Navigating.  We left a tasty trail of blood behind but fortunately no seals were near by.

Yowza! Great fish Jason. And I heard the bite was off today. Not!
I was in La Jolla for the past week; looks like I'm back just in time. Didn't fish down there; dove one day but saw no yellows. Spooked one WSB, about 40#, 'cause I was making noise trying to bring in the YT. Doh!

Chris,  I wouldn't think you would be nervous about GW since you had your new sharp Gaff to protect yourself! :smt002

Mooch,

I should have shoved a couple of extra chovie's in his mouth and weighed him. Then I could have passed you on the board.  Just kidding.  :smt002. It was great fighting that fish for as long as I did. The greatest part of the whole thing was at the time I hooked him I could see Mori point and the pier.  But by the end of the fight I couldn't see either.  The adventure was getting back to lida mar with this hog in my lap.

Yeah, when that fog rolled in, I just followed Bill (and mooched off his GPS)the whole time until we reached Pedro Point. - I'm glad Bill had his GPS (I left my compass in the truck  :smt011)
