avi is fine, its your video size that is too big, make them 240X320 and try that.  you can also use BINK freeware to convert files from WMV to other formats.

I'll check out the BINK...

I know that AVI will work on Youtube, but how do I convert to 240x320?

Thanks, GuruDude.   :smt001

Looks like you've figured out how to save non-MMW

I find it odd that it won't let you select the "Compress to XX Mb" option.

Anyway, you could try the "MoreSettings-> Windows Media Low Bandwidth (117 kb)" or "Windows Media VHS Quality (1Mps)".  Both of those should be smaller WMV files that youtube should accept.  Although I don't personally like the WMV format, there is no need to convert it to AVI, MOV, or  MPG if you want to upload it to youtube to share.  If you want to put it on an ipod or something, that's a different story.

That's basically all I want to do right now, but Youtube told me it's an invalid format.

Hmm.. almost all the videos I've uploaded are WMV's created by Windows Movie Maker.  Sure the quality isn't the greatest, but its' youtube.

From the youtube help site..

What video file formats can I upload?

YouTube accepts a wide range of video file formats such as .WMV, .AVI, .MOV, and .MPG transferred from most digital cameras, camcorders, and cell phones.

We've found that files converted from .wmv to one of the other formats our webpage accepts generally have a lower playback quality than other file formats. If you have your source video in a format other than a .wmv file, you may want to encode directly to MPEG4 (DivX, Xvid, SVQ3) at 640x480 resolution, with 64k Mono MP3 Audio. If you have a source .wmv in high bitrate and larger resolution you may want to convert to MPEG4 at full resolution and then resizing to 320x240 using a high quality resizing algorithm - this can help reduce the number of artifacts you end up with.

Thanks, Brian.  It's all sounding Greek to me now!   :smt012

I'll try again tonight and take some screen shots if/when I get shot down again at upload...
