As my co-workers now call " The Man Mobile"

Close up of the Rail Rider 1 towers on the tracks

Inside with the screw mounting caps. The holes were sealed with RTV and tight fitting nylon washers. The tracks also seal tightly. I don't think there will be any leakage.

The BIG ugly clamps. Gotta machine something better than these stockers.

From the rear. You can see I went with longer bars, 66" so that it makes loading from the side easier.

View from the top. Sorry for the dew but I took these pictures before going to work today.

Yakima 60" tracks - 90.00  (ebay )
Takima Rail Rider 1 - 22.00 ( ebay )
Yakima Cross Bars 66" - 58.00 ( Rack Outfitters - Sacramento)
Vista Campershell Alpine - 300.00 ( couple of minor stratches I can live with!)
Twin size air matress - 25.00 ( BIG 5 )
Staying dry while sleeping - PRICELESS

very nice, I keep thinking I should get a shell for the Dakota.  I had one on my last truck set up allot like that, but couldn't just throw raw lumber back there because the sleeping area would get dirty (wimp excuse I know...)
Less Mental than before, Still savage AF tho <3

Broom out any chucks, park on incline and rinse with water.

Just don't do what I did... haul oak that was cut from poison oak areas! I didn't think of this until the truck was half loaded. I soaped and scrubbed the bed with poison oak soap and rinsed ( repeated 3 times ).

Nice rig!

BTW, Dawn, Palmolive and most other quality dish soaps will wash off poison oak oil.

looks nice, but I really like just having a lumber rack because you can load the kayak by lifting the bow to the bed, pushing it in, jumping in the bed, lifting the bow to the lumber rack and pushing it up.  you never have to lift the whole yak at any time.

yeah, I'm old and wimpy,  :smt002

SWEET set-up!  I dreaded the fact that i can't use the self-tappers to secure the tracking.
Looks like i'll be doing the same....drilling holes thru the headliner is gonna be fun(not)
thanks for the pics of encouragment!

I used 1/8" bit for the pilot hole and then used an awl to punch a hole in the headliner(carpet).  I am coming up with ideas to install a speargun/ rod holder setup. Also be nice to have a shotgun harness up there for bear protection errr I mean when I go duck hunting. :smt003

We'll all get old and wimpy. I have a hulivator to make my life simplier, just worried about the hulivator spinning on the yakima round bars.

Adam you might want to check out these, I have them on mine for the rear and rain gutters in the front. don't remember what type of screws they used but no headliner holes and they are super strong. no give at all.

Looks good Brian. Very similar to the rack on my shell.

Clamps are different

My crossbars are shorter. I think they're 55 or 56 inches.
Also have the Yakima Boatloader on the front..

I like the way your's bolts on! When I get brave enough I will probably just bolt on and ditch the clamps. I just fear drilling through the bed rails on the truck though. I guess a little  por15 will solve future rust problems.

Looks like you went with every hole in your track? I went every other one as the hardware pack from yakima provided.

On my shell I went with the same set up as Mickfish. Worked great.
I also have the Yakima boatloader. WELL worth the extra $$.

My camper shell uses these stupid little J bolts with 2 nuts  4each side,(One is a lock nut) that contunilly come loose!  I'll be drilling and bolting here soon.  For my racks, I use the false gutter rails as well, yakima everything.  Kinda wished I went for the tracks now, but then the cross bars would be that much higher.  Camper shell tops out at 7' now and I've pretty much ruled out parking in parking garages.

I don't think it's bolted into the bed. There's a lip there and a clamp beneath it. As for the tracks..I had Leer install those.
