if you have a mendo county residence? you are in and don't need to wait

Alternatively, you could always try and marry yourself into a Mendocino county family between now and the end of July.

Thanks Brian and Fishhunter.  Maybe I will just come and meet some people and fish for the day.  I should have your swimbaits ready on time Brian.

Andres,

While I'd admire your willingness to drive seven hours to meet and fish some of us the cap on the tournament is actually a cap on the number of non-Mendocino county residents the town of Elk is willing to let fish their local waters. Basically Scwafish promised them that we wouldn't impact their fishery too much.  You can imagine if all of NCKA came to your favorite fishing hole.  So even if you weren't officially in the tournament the extra fishing pressure wouldn't be welcome by the townspeople.

A better option is later in the fall at "Bendo at Mendo".  This is a striped bass tournament in Lake Mendocino and is unlimited in the number of anglers allowed in.  Becuase it's unlimited, this one is actually a better place to meet more members.

Oh, and "shhh" on the secret weapon swim baits you're developing.  I need to keep my edge. :)

Bsteves pretty much nailed it.  The event is FULL, and there isn't a show up and hang around option because the whole place is going to be at its max, which is why I had to agree to a cap  Please give it a try next year, or give BAM a go, it is also a blast.

I'M guessing it's to late to joining the tournament.  If anyone knows other wise let me know.  If not maybe I can come up and fish just to get to know everyone.  Thanks.
there is a wait list you can enter....if you have a mendo county residence? you are in and don't need to wait...otherwise you may be able to camp in Albion(just north of Elk) and come down to fish, meet others and eat?
Sean White (GWKC) is the person to contact, it's his gig.
Yeah Adam...you know the deal...why did you get him fired up like that?!  :smt011

reply~  i'm sorry Andres. i was caught up in the moment of madness and lost my head.
hopefully you can make it to BAM IV as Sean&Brian noted.

I yanked my back out on the !st, absolutely bed-rdden for 10 days...sucked bad, muscle spasms, the whole shootin' match. Anyway, I havnt even been able to look at the site much let alone post. Im up and around now, taking it slooooow.... I should be able to stick Elk if all goes well. Bluekayak told me one time the best thing for a sore back is dragging a yak down to the water. I just dont think he was talking about Elk.

Hey Ben,

I'm sure we (hopefully I'm not speaking just for myself) can help you get your kayak down and up at Elk somehow.  I'd hate for you tweak your back again while we're there.

Man, that sucks. I just got done rehabilitating my back for the umteenth time. Sounds like you're doing the right thing by taking it ultra slow. Lot's of floating in jacuzzi's or hot baths my friend. You back will love you for it.

Seriously, is there a sherpa service?  If not, would someone please propose it to some local kids as a fundraising opportunity?  I'd be prepared to drop a couple $$ not to have to drag my boat up and down that hill and down to the water, if it coudl be done competently and safely by a third party.
Searching for fish I am.
Eat them I will.

Hmm, if I charged $20 a piece, how many kayaks would I need to porter to cover my expenses?  How many could I physically handle?  I really wish I knew some of the local kids, I'd charge you guys $20 a piece and pay them $10-$15 a kayak at least until Mendo county social services busts me for violating child labor statutes.

Funny, I was wondering that same thing today  :smt044. If you are talking fuel costs to the event, it would take about 6 kayaks at the 20 spot price for me. I think I'd end up in the hospital if I tried that.
