I built this out of pvc pipe and lobster floats.  Yes it's a little crooked but it works great:

Took it out first time yesterday and really enjoyed it.  I know pontoons are not for everyone:

Headed up river and pontoons didn't seem to effect drag or steering:

Consulted the creepy trees.   Not sure if they concur:

Drifted back down river, under the bridge and to the sea and played (safely) in some mild swells and the weird broiling currents.  Outriggers functioned perfectly.

Parked  and walked on the beach as the low tide shifted:

Back on the water, and close to shore, I stood up and did a little "jig" on the boat, rocking back and forth, and the outriggers behaved like good old friends.  So now I can rock without rolling.  :smt002

Of course the pontoon frame does interfere with regular paddling, but I could still do a comfortable modified paddle.   I mostly pedal anyway, except in seaweed and shallows.  And Hmm... (pleasant evil thoughts) I could also sail this thing.

The only problem I have with the pontoons is that now I want to be on the water even more.  :smt001

Right on, Matt.  Cool design.   :smt001

Get that setup perfected and you'll be ready to go offshore for rockfish and salmon.
