Where and how do you store your rods at home?
Mine are in the garage. I made a rod holder in the rafters so they were out of harms way but it was a bit of a pain to get them down.
Came up with a different design. It will hold 23 rods. It is safe, convenient and out of the way.
I made a door out of thin plywood, 2x4's, 1x3's, 1.5''ABS, and velcro.
I used 3 hinges and a wheel on the bottom to carry the extra weight. Works like a charm.
I especially like the velcro part. Two inches wide by 4 feet long on the back and skinny 3'' strips that hold the rods in place. I can arrange the rods any way I like and don't have to worry about the guides not fitting or aligning.
I am thinking about addind a shower curtain and rod on the inside top to keep some of the dust out.

Very nice work Tote!  :smt007   I like the fact that it has a door - making it closet like.  It seems that this will not only protect your rods from incidental contact with other objects, but it also keeps them out of sight while the garage door is open.

Mine is much less sophisticated.  Will have to post pictures soon.

I've been looking for a better way myself.  The door setup would not work for me as I have a couple over 8 foot.  I like the cable ties though.  Gonna have to take that idea.  23?  If I count mine I'll have to give my wife an honest answer if she asks how many I have.

Nice work tote. Very nice how it's inside the door. Another winter project to do for me too.
Thanks for the inspiration.

Does the 8 foot rod break down into 2 pieces? I have a 2 piece rod in the pic.
I didn't use cable ties. They are velcro straps. I think they came 6 to a package and 15'' long each . Total cost for those was about $5.  I just cut them into 3 or 4 inch pieces. They stick perfectly to the black velcro.

Nope, except for the surf stick they are all one piece.  Think I showed you the one I just finished on the Islander trip - deep burgundy blank with black & copper thread.  That one is 9 foot.

So, I am thinking of using the area that is covered when my garage door opens and stowing them horizontal.  I like the pvc for the butt end and then using the velcro for supporting them.  Only concern is if, for some reason, the velcro lets go the sticks could be in the way of the garage door.

DUDE!    where's the LOCK?   that is NICE work...better that a gun cabinet!
side story:  i had my pole on the wall w/a senko attatched and haging....came out to garage to find my pole pulled down and caught/wedged under the tire?  hmmmmm?.....remembering that the wife mentioned that she saw a cat poking around the outside of the garage......glad it didn't hook itself.

Invert it! That way the rods lay against the plywood and are totally out of site.
That was my original idea. The whole thing was going to pull down with spring assisted hinges. I wanted to get the hardware for an attic ladder and use it but Home Depot didn't have just the hardware and I didn't have the time or patience to wait.

I was thinking of doing the inversion thing, but the drive belt for the opener is in the way.  Just going to have to spend some liquid-inspired design time in the garage.
