I didn't see any standout deals, but then again I wasn't looking too hard.  Did anyone buy any new toys?

Nah.... I didn't see any good deals on anything.  I thought the show was weak. For me, the best part of the show was Hippo Lau's seminar on "local saltwater techniques".

Last year, there was a fishing seminar conducted by Jim Sammons.  Dennis Spike was even making his rounds promoting kayak fishing and Rancho Leonero.  This year, I only saw one paddleshop.   :smt012

I ended up going with Bill and Ken on Saturday. Met Erik, Chris/Cpyak, Pierre, Dave and his son at the show. Also spoke with Allen B. - he had his kayak display. I saw plenty that I wanted to buy but had no money for it :smt011

Dude... you better post that picture with you and your bud Roland... with your greasy hands all over his $1000 leather jacket... that was classic... Joel knows no shame.

Here is the story straight from the photographers (me) mouth.

We are walking outside to go to another hall and Joel spots Roland Martin. Roland is casting a fly around and having a conversation with someone.

Joel starts screaming like a little girl and asking someone to take his picture.   I volunteer and get Ken's camera.

Joel runs up to Roland, Roland is engaged in a conversation with the fly fishing dude. Joel interupts and ask for a picture. Roland says "Sure" and goes back to talking with the fly guy.

Joel hugs Roland and smiles.

Roland is still trying to talk to the fly guy.

Joel makes a rude comment about Roland not paying attention to him.

Roland looks over and I snap the picture. I am barely holding it toghether at this point, the whole situation is funny as hell.

Joel gets upset that Roland didn't kiss him and vows to burn all his Roland Martin stuff when he gets home.

Good times man!...
